Open Graph Tag Checker

Open Graph Tag Checker

Why This Matters & Usage Tips

Open Graph tags provide structured information to social networks and other platforms, ensuring your pages display rich previews (e.g., correct title, description, and image) when shared. While the tags aren’t strictly a direct SEO ranking factor, they significantly impact social visibility and click-through rates.

  • og:title: The headline or title shown in social posts.
  • og:description: A short summary or teaser of the content.
  • og:image: The main image representing the page. Use high-resolution images.
  • og:url: Canonical URL so shares aggregate across a single link.
  • og:type: The “type” of your content (e.g., “article,” “website,” “profile,” etc.).

How to Use:

  1. Enter the full page URL (e.g., https://www.example.com/article) and click “Check Open Graph Tags.”
  2. Review any warnings about missing or empty tags. You’ll see a table of all detected og:* properties.
  3. Ensure you have at least og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url, and og:type for the best results. Copy or save the results for your reference.
  4. Implement any missing tags or fix them in your HTML to improve how your pages appear on social media.

Example: If your “og:url” points to a different domain than the one you tested, confirm it’s intentional, such as a single domain for share counts or canonical references.
