Why This Matters & How to Use
While search engines don’t directly rank pages by “HTML-to-text ratio,” extremes can reveal:
- Excessive markup/scripts relative to content (very low ratio). Pages might load slower or bury text under code.
- Very thin content if the ratio is extremely high, indicating minimal HTML structure or not enough substance.
Steps:
- Enter a page URL (e.g.,
https://www.example.com/blog-post
) and click “Check Ratio.”
- The tool fetches the page, strips out scripts/styles, then calculates the ratio of textual content to total HTML size.
- Review any warnings about low or high percentages and copy the results for your records.
- Use a balanced approach: ensure your code is efficient and your content is substantial. Don’t chase a specific ratio, but watch for outliers.
